Margaret ChristakosMargaret Christakos was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1962 and is the award-winning author of seven acclaimed poetry collections and a novel, Charisma, shortlisted for the Trillium Book Award. She teaches creative writing and runs ‘Influency: A Toronto Poetry Salon’ at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. Her most recent collection, What Stirs, was shortlisted for the Pat Lowther Award. Some of the themes in her work include the intersections of sexuality and identity, particularly within the gender and motherhood identities. Christakos has a long relationship with designing and curating literary events in Toronto, trying to build community and interest new audiences in diverse poetics and poets. As Toronto representative for the League of Canadian Poets from 2000 to 2002, she organized the daylong poetry festival Poetry College, bringing together numerous poets in trendy restaurants along Toronto's College Street restaurant strip.
