Dionne Brand - DiscussionDionne Brand is one of Canada's foremost writers. Born in Trinidad, she has lived in Canada since 1970. Brand is accomplished as both a novelist and a poet, and has also published essays and critical articles. Her poetry has won the Governor General's Award for Poetry, the Trillium Award, the Pat Lowther Award, and The Harbourfront Festival Award for her substantial contribution to literature.
